Shopping: Antique & Vintage Rings- The Perfect Gift

by - 4/04/2018

Hello my darlings, I hope you are all having a great start to April so far! Today I'll be talking about antique/vintage rings as a potential engagement ring- if your girl is into something ornate and love the vintage vibe.

Personal Preferences
The perfect ring will be the one where you nail her ring preference. By taking note of the types of rings she normally wears, and her personal style. It should give you some clue as to if she's a vintage girl. If you are looking, there are always reputable dealers such as Kalmar Antiques in Sydney, Australia who have a wealth of experience in helping people choose the right ring, and with an extensive collection of stylish diamond engagement rings, you will be in good hands.

Antique Vs Vintage – What’s the Difference?
They are both old, yet a true antique would be at least a century old, while a vintage ring would be from around 1920s and can be as recent as the 1980s. Anything that was made prior to WW I is classified as an antique, and there are some stunning Victorian examples that never fail to impress.

The Best Designs
Pieces that stood the test of time and became classics. Such was the 19th and 20th centuries, the designs are still avidly sought after today. Antique and vintage covers a lot of ground, and if you can get an inkling of her ring preference, so much the better. These days, many couples prefer to select the engagement ring together, and what you lose in the surprise factor, you gain by being sure she likes the ring. If you are unsure about her preference and are planning a surprise proposal. You can ask the jeweler to set the stone you have chosen on a simple solitaire, then pick the setting together after you proposed to her.

Vintage, but not old
Vintage rings can also be very sentimental if you happened to get hold on a family heirloom. Or, if your girl love the vintage design yet is not keen on wearing something old, or owned by some random person. You can look into purchasing a vintage designed ring instead of going all antique- which was my case. I love the vintage feel but don't have any family heirloom that can be inherited. I don't like the idea of wearing something that once belonged to a stranger. I wanted something totally unique and new. So we ended up designing my engagement ring that have a strong vintage element to it.

I hope these give you some ideas on another option into purchasing an engagement ring! Have a great week my darlings and thanks for stopping by!

Bisous, xx

  2. Vintage jewelry is actually a great investment - especially these days with stocks being so unreliable. Vintage jewelry just goes up in value.
